1Summer Colonial Market Fair
Claude Moore Colonial Farm opens their pre-revolutionary war homestead up for a unique shopping experience. The Summer Market Fair is an 18th century celebration with merchants peddling their wares, local ale and porter at the tavern and hands-on crafts such as spinning and tye-dying. / July 19 & 20, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

If nerd is the new cool than Historicon, the largest tabletop war-gaming convention in North America is “old-school cool.” Sponsored by the Historical Miniature Gaming Society, this annual convention at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center brings in approximately 4,000 people from across the globe to experience “the mother of all wargaming conventions.” / July 17-20, $25- $50

 

3Gray Ghost Anniversary Celebration
Gray Ghost Vineyards celebrates 20 years with a two-day bash featuring winery and vineyard tours, two days of live music, food from Ezra’s Roadside Kitchen, Civil War demonstrations and author talks (Eric Buckland and Dave Goetz). / July 12-13 11 a.m.-5 p.m., $20

4Clifton Film Fest
The annual Northern Virginia film festival is back. Showcasing original films made by fellow Northern Virginians, and shown at the Workhouse Arts Center, it’s a little bit of Sundance and a little bit of the Oscars, but none of the pretension. / July 19, $5-$10

 

5Dave Matthews Band
The sensation that is Dave Matthews Band is coming back to Virginia, where they first formed 23 years ago. The band will perform as part of their annual summer-long tour at Jiffy Lube Live, and will feature their classic improvisational music. / July 26, 7 p.m., $57-$730
